Research

Where evidence meets the classroom.

My research stays close to teaching. I'm interested in what actually helps students learn, and in making sure the work we publish improves real outcomes for real people. Three themes run through most of it.

Three themes

Hybrid & blended learning

How digital-native students experience learning when it moves between the classroom and the screen, and what good teaching looks like in that in-between space. My 2022 study in the Kasetsart Journal of Social Sciences sits at the centre of this work.

Resilience, Well Being & Educational Leadership

How students and educators navigate challenges, adapt to change, and thrive in learning environments. Drawing on research into teacher resilience, emotional dynamics, well being, and educational practice, this work explores the human side of learning and development.

Evidence-based & responsible research impact

Research ethics, service learning, and written corrective feedback: work concerned with doing research responsibly, so that its impact reaches the people it claims to help. Reflected in a 2025 multi-institutional paper on research ethics.

Selected publications

I publish regularly across these themes. These two are the best place to start; the complete, current list is on Google Scholar.

Also in progress and in print

Beyond these projects, my research also examines AI enhanced learning, written corrective feedback, service learning, gender inclusive language, student resilience and well being, and innovative pedagogies in higher education. Together, these areas explore how communication, technology, and instructional design shape meaningful learning experiences.

I'm open to collaboration.

If your work touches any of these themes, or sits somewhere unexpected next to them, I'd be glad to talk.
