I am currently employed full-time by Stamford International University, Bangkok, Thailand, where I teach undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in English courses such as academic and research writing, Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Analytical Reading, Advanced Presentation Skills, Business Communication, Rhetoric and Strategic Use of Language, Advanced Grammar, Literature, Poetry, Professional Ethics, General Psychology, and others.

I started teaching part-time in the BA English department in 2017 while being the academic manager in the Laureate English Program and was transferred full-time in July 2019. I built the courses listed above, from syllabi-making and course assessment writing to course materials building. I am also actively engaged in revising and rewriting the BA-English curriculum and am an active member of the university’s academic committee.

Academic Manager & Lecturer, Laureate English Language Program

I was appointed the Academic Manager of the College English Language Program, focusing on delivering academic writing courses. I managed over ten lecturers of various nationalities for over two years (2016-2019). I overhauled and rewrote the College English Program to align course and program learning outcomes, applied student-centred pedagogy, and revised and designed the LEP’s Academic Honesty Handbook. My responsibilities included overseeing the curriculum’s quality delivery, aligning course assessments to program aims, observing classes, handling department meetings, planning semestral activities, and evaluating program delivery per term. I also prepared and moderated traditional and non-traditional assessments and led in the planning, teaching, and delivering Hybrid Learning Online (HBO) academic courses before the COVID-19 outbreaks.

When I was in Raffles University Iskandar Malaysia, I taught courses such as Academic Reading, Writing and Communications in IELTS standards, Professional Communications, Business Communication, Professional Ethics, Psychology of Learning, Study and Research Skills, etc. I also prepared and moderated course assessments such as quizzes, projects, assignments, and final exams, and marked and assessed students’ coursework, projects, presentations and final examination papers. I actively led the ELP and FLA teams in the aspects of work competency, discipline, and work performance. My responsibilities included planning ELP and FLA’s matrices and subject allocations and developing and implementing the university’s Foundation English and English for Diploma Programmes. I also conducted English proficiency placement tets and supervised and second-marked Psychology senior students’ Thesis Papers. Aside from those mentioned above, I was also the Teaching and Learning Committee Chair from May 2014-June to 2015 and was an active member of the university’s Senate Committee, Curriculum Review Committee, and Admission Committee.

I joined Raffles International College in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in 2008 and left in 2012 due to a new opportunity in its sister school in Malaysia. In Raffles Vietnam, I led the English team in the areas of staff discipline, work performance and work competency. My primary responsibilities were to make plans for the new academic semester, such as matrix planning, the subject allocation for English Language Programme, course profiles, teaching materials and others. I also supervised the professional development needs of staff, provided mentoring and training programmes, and prepared and delivered Academic and Business English and IELTS lessons.

John Robert Powers Vietnam gave me the Curriculum Director position. My primary responsibilities were planning, creating, and conducting training on Personal Growth, Communication Skills, and Imaging for various age groups; kids, teens, young adults, executives and others. I honed my marketing and selling skills in JRP as I had to present programs that fit the client’s needs, whether in corporate or education-related fields. I was also exposed to meeting CEOs of multinational companies and government agencies promoting JRP’s products and services.
